Compliance

Reporting Company

Definition

A reporting company is any domestic or foreign entity — such as an LLC or corporation — that is required to file Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reports with FinCEN under the Corporate Transparency Act. Most entities registered to do business in the U.S. qualify unless they meet one of the statutory exemptions. CPAs must identify which clients in their book fall into this category to determine their compliance obligations.
