Form 1099-DA is a tax reporting form used by digital asset brokers to report proceeds from cryptocurrency and other digital asset transactions to both the IRS and the taxpayer. It was introduced as part of expanded digital asset reporting requirements to bring crypto transactions in line with traditional investment reporting. Taxpayers and their preparers use it to determine the correct amount of capital gains or losses to report.
