FOR TAX PROFESSIONALS|FIND A TAX PROFESSIONAL

02 / Prepare

Available now

Documents are classified and extracted into workpapers that keep the link back to the page the number came from.

Values get re-keyed from a PDF into the tax software, and the document, adjustment, or assumption that explains the number does not travel with it.

Document processing, workpapers, research, prior year.

02/Scope

What is in scope today.

  • Common individual document classes (W-2, the 1099 series, 1098 series, K-1)
  • Prior-year return comparison
  • Workpaper assembly

03/Security

What happens to the data at this stage.

  • Client documents and tax data are encrypted during transmission and while stored.
  • Each firm operates in a logically isolated workspace, and access is assigned according to responsibility.
  • Multi-factor authentication and role-based access are available.
  • Material actions involving documents, client data, review, and financial information are recorded with the actor and timestamp.
  • TaxScout maintains encrypted backups that support recovery and continuity.
  • Customer data is not used to train shared models.
  • TaxScout hosts customer data in the United States.
  • Security controls are mapped to relevant professional-firm requirements.

Control detail and current assurance status: /security.

·/Limitations

What this does not do today.

  • Extraction quality depends on document quality — a photographed page skewed on a table extracts less reliably than a native PDF.
  • Accuracy percentages are not published without a documented benchmark (§6.16).
  • Document classes have different maturity; ask for the current per-form matrix rather than treating one number as a blanket claim.
