Late Filing Penalty
Definition
A late filing penalty is a fee assessed by a government authority when a required filing is not submitted by its designated deadline. In the context of Florida LLC annual reports, a $400 penalty is automatically assessed on filings submitted after the May 1 deadline, in addition to the standard filing fee. Unlike tax late penalties, this is a flat state compliance fee unrelated to income or tax liability.
