Facts on this page come from IRS.gov (the Form 1065 page was last updated by the IRS Jul 20, 2026); read by TaxScout Oct 22, 2026.

Who files Form 1065

Partnerships file Form 1065 as an information return to report their income, gains, losses, deductions and credits. The partnership itself does not pay income tax but passes profits and losses through to its partners. LLCs classified as partnerships, including a domestic LLC with at least two members that does not file Form 8832, file the same way.

When it is due

March 15 for calendar-year filers.

Due by the 15th day of the 3rd month after the tax year ends. If that day is a weekend or legal holiday, filing on the next business day is on time, so calendar-year 2025 returns may be filed by March 16, 2026. Form 7004 requests an extension and must be filed by the regular due date.
