# Your client portal, on your firm’s domain

> Connect your firm’s own domain to the client portal. Here is how to set it up and what your clients will see.

Your clients can now open their TaxScout portal at an address on your firm’s own domain, such as **portal.yourfirm.com**.

The portal keeps your firm’s name and logo. Once the domain is active, supported portal links use that address. Existing TaxScout portal links continue to work.

## Who can use it

This is available in the organization’s Branding settings. A team member with permission to manage the organization can connect the domain. You will also need access to your domain’s DNS settings, or help from the person who manages them.

## Connect your domain

1. Open [Organization → Branding](https://app.taxscout.ai/dashboard/organization?tab=branding) and find **Custom portal domain**.
2. Enter a subdomain you want clients to use, such as **portal.yourfirm.com**.
3. Follow the DNS instructions shown in TaxScout. Copy the exact record names and values; they are specific to your connection. Automatic setup is offered when your DNS provider supports it.
4. Wait for domain verification and the HTTPS certificate to finish. TaxScout checks progress automatically and shows when the domain is active. Timing depends on your DNS provider and certificate validation.

## If someone else manages your DNS

Use **Email them the steps** to share the instructions with your IT contact, or **Help me connect** to request assistance from our team.

## What stays the same

- Clients still use the TaxScout portal and their existing access.
- Your current TaxScout portal links remain available.
- Connecting a portal domain does not change the sender address of your email notifications.

Choose a dedicated portal subdomain and wait until TaxScout marks it active before sharing it with clients. If verification needs attention, follow the message shown next to the domain.
